What is NLP?

NLP can be used for personal development, releasing fears /and phobias and for helping you to achieve your maximum personal and professional potential. NLP is the practice of understanding how we organise our thinking, feelings, language and behaviour to produce the results and behaviours we do. NLP can provide us with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by leaders in their field, who model excellence. A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental maps of the world as a product of the way we filter, interpret and perceive information absorbed through our five senses from the world around us.

• Neuro: Each individual can establish their own unique mental filtering system for processing the millions of pieces of data being absorbed through their senses each second. Our first mental map of the world consists of internal images, sounds, tactile awareness, internal sensations, tastes and smells that are formed as a result of our neurological filtering process.

• Linguistic: We may then assign our own personal meaning to the information being received from the world outside of us. We then form our second mental map by assigning language to the internal images, sounds and feelings, tastes and smells, which forms our everyday conscious awareness. The second mental map is called the Linguistic Map.

• Programming: This is the behavioural response that occurs as a result of our complex, neurological filtering processes and the subsequent linguistic map which is then formed.

NLP Origins

Neuro Linguistic Programming began its life in the 1970s when a Professor from the University of California John Grinder, teamed up with an undergraduate Richard Bandler. Both had a fascination with human excellence which charted a path for them to model behavioural patterns of selected masters of excellence. Modelling is one of the the core activities in NLP, and is the process of replicating the language structure and behavioural patterns of individuals who are excellent at a given activity. Grinder and Bandler started their NLP quest by modelling three people: Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson.

These “geniuses” were outstanding professionals of change facilitation, working in the area of therapy. All three therapists, Perls, Satir and Erickson performed their magic from a perspective of “unconscious excellence”. Grinder and Bandler absorbed the patterning inherent in the geniuses work and then provided a description. They then coded the results of their work in language-based models using the patterns, descriptive vocabulary. Using NLP “Modelling” Grinder and Bandler replicated the skills of the 3 geniuses and NLP was born. Their enthusiasm is in part captured in his introduction to the book Structure of Magic. The training courses Bandler and Grinder conducted – proved that the NLP models were transferable to others, meaning the learners could use the NLP models successfully in their own work.

Satisfaction guaranteed.

What can NLP help you with?

  • Changing unwanted thoughts and feelings. This could include Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and any fears and phobias.
  •

  • Empower you to ‘reframe’ the past and anticipate a brighter future by helping you use your inner remote control, putting your powerful imagination to good use.
  •

  • Releasing unhelpful inner programmes that are no longer serving you and replacing them with something that works better.
  •

  • Establish and strengthen ‘resource’ anchors so that you are able to trigger powerful positive emotional states instantly at will.
  •

  • Change Beliefs for good helping you notice which of your beliefs are slowing or preventing progress and which are supporting you. Creating authentic belief shifts so you become free to thrive in your day-to-day activities.
  •

  • Help you to model excellence, especially your own! Helps you to break any pattern of ‘one step forward, one step back’. Work with parts of your “inner team” to resolve internal conflict and to remove any inner resistance to useful and positive change, helping you to experience wholeness and congruence as every part of you ‘sings from the same hymn sheet’.
  •

  • Effectively ’re-playing’ events from different perspectives for maximising your learning and development. This helps you to strengthen your sense of identity and self-worth; helping you to become more outcome and solution focused.
  •

  • Helps you to ‘get out of your own way’ more easily. Helps You to release any phobias, traumas or other unhelpful ‘baggage’, giving you the skills to have more purposeful, helpful conversations by harnessing the power of effective language.
  •

  • Gives you access to your own magnificent resourcefulness and feel more in the “driving seat” of your life, showing you how to experience more: joy, contentment, inner peace, confidence, gratitude, love, compassion, patience, determination, and general well-being in your life.
  •

  • Giving you the skills to uncover more choices and options for yourself allowing you to generate a better future, whilst choosing better meanings that keep you as resourceful as possible.

This can provide you with the opportunity to feel better about unhelpful experiences in your past, whilst being able to communicate with your clients, work colleagues, friends and family more effectively.
You may find that you are achieving better results and enjoying life more as you benefit from your own personal development breakthroughs and further apply the NLP tools given in your healing session, in your own life.
